Now, I’ll get this out of the way…. I don’t do Christmas in November. It is far too early.
I think this stems from having a birthday at the end of November, and the celebration of that gets lost in the mix of Christmas present shopping, the music, the parties…. arrrggggh!
Seeing as I’m just starting with the blogging I thought it would be a good opportunity to showcase two events I will be at on the first weekend in December.
The first one is
I traded at the Roman Road Yard Market throughout the summer and I love it as a market. There is such a great vibe in the East End and Roman Road encompasses that! The market is run by a community group – The Roman Road Trust, and is all about making the area better for the locals.
my favourite thing about the market (apart from the vibe and people!) is that fact we get to use old fashioned market barrows as the stalls. These are still made but the same family in a yard just off the Roman. Each one is numbered and it’s always fun to see which number I have each time I am there. We are loosing too many local, small family businesses, it’s nice to support one even in this small way.
Not only will there be a fabulous range of gift stalls, including vintage, designer makers and home made, there will be fun community stalls, a kids craft stalls.
Food tucks, mulled wine and carols and the all important Santa’s Grotto.
The fair also coincides with Small Business Saturday and East End Independents Day. Both are important campaigns that help to highlight small local businesses and creative companies. It makes the fair a perfect opportunity for you to support them – with your festive spending money!
The market is on Saturday 3rd December from 11am to 4pm and can be found at the corner of Roman Road and St Stephens Road.
The second one is
The Mid Century Market is one of my all time favourite markets in London. it does exactly what it says on the tin! Everything on sale is mid century (late 40s to mid 60s) or inspired from those eras!
As the lovely organiser Bettina Scarlett says – “The Mid Century Market takes pride in showcasing the best in vintage and reproduction clothing, jewellery, homeware and accessories all from or inspired by the 40s, 50s and 60s”
So, get your Christmas list at the ready as this time they have, not only one, but tow hall s bursting with vintage goodies! And on top of that they have a vintage hair salon and Minnie Moons nail bar.
I’m not trading this time, but I will be there greeting you all on the door, so please do say ‘hello’.
The market is on Sunday 4th December from 11am to 4pm. Entrance is £3 (free for under 12s) at Cecil Sharpe House, 2 Regent’s Park road, NW1 7AY
See you there?
